Hi Terry

William was killed at Krithia Nullah at Gallipoli, here is his entry in 'soldiers died'

you may be interested in this page on the main site, it's a personal diary from another soldier from the 8th battalion, he was also shot on the 4th June which is where his diary ends

Hi Feluce, Terry (Yultel) hasn't been an active member since 2008, however, if you click on the email symbol below his name at the start of this thread it will provide you with his email address. Hopefully he still uses the same email address.

Best of luck
Pete

On my computer the incons are on the left hand side, and certainly no can I see can I locate  where an email!!

One point of interest, William Bryan was killed at Krithia Nullah..Nullah is a Hindi word for a drainage ditch or a small stream...( I lived in India for many years and speak Hindi)

Hi Feluce,

William's Effects of £6 3/2 were left to his Widow Eva.  The Register notes a date of death in Dardanelles as 7/6/1915 - not 4th.  I wonder if CWGC & SDGW records are confused with the other William Bryan of Worcesters who was killed on 4/6/15-also commemorated at Helles.  I presume the War Diary may help.

It's an interesting point about place names. I guess this shows part of the significance about the bridge into asia at the Dardanelles.

L/Cpl bryan was killed on 4th june, the entry in the soldiers effects probably refers to when he was reported missing, there are 6 others from the battalion who were listed in SDGW as killed on 7th june, their correct date of death was the 4th june, they were not in the lines on 7th june, they were relieved on the evening of 5th june and embarked for imbros on 12th,they didn't return till 22nd and on 29th they relieved the 7th battalion in the front lines

Hi feluce, and a Warm Welcome to our Forum!

Unfortunately it was yultel (Terry's) choice to "hide" their email address.  Were it available it would be accessed via the envelope on the left hand side, sorry, as part of the fun is contacting distant relatives and exchanging information.

If you need any assistance in posting pictures for example, please don't hesitate to ask on here!

Kind regards
Wendi
