Hi Craig

and welcome to the group

Name:     PINDER, SAMUEL
Initials:    S
Nationality:    United Kingdom
Rank:    Private
Regiment/Service:    Manchester Regiment
Unit Text:    21st Bn.
Age:    37
Date of Death:    04/10/1918
Service No:    303962
Additional information:    Husband of Elizabeth Pinder, of 49, Earl St., Pendleton, Salford, Manchester.
Casualty Type:    Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference:    Panel 9.
Memorial:    VIS-EN-ARTOIS MEMORIAL

there's something interesting here, both the CWGC (above) and 'soldiers died' (below) lists him as 21st battalion but his service 303962 is an 8th battalion number

Hi Craig, Welcome to the Forum !

His MIC does not give us many clues, except that he joined up went overseas after 1915.

::) Sorry didn't mean to lead anyone astray - I'll edit my  post, thank Chris  ;)

:-\ There is reference to an "S Pinder" in the Appendix, working for Walker & Homfrays Limited ~ it then says see page 646 of the Rolls of Honour, but I can't see his name there.   :-\  I think mack & you know your way around these CD's better than me !!!
