Territorial force War Medal
« on: September 10, 2008, 03:14:44 PM »
Can anyone tell me how many Territorial force War Medals got issued to the Manchester Regiment in WW1.
Im led to believe that they are very rare and were issued instead of the 1914/15 star.
The Territorial Force War Medal was awarded to  Territorial Force members who joined up before 30 September 1914 and served overseas between August 1914 and November 1918, but were not eligible for the 1914 or 1914/15 Stars.

Timberman,
My research would indicate that only 9 officers and 60 ORs from the Manchester Regiment received the TFWM. Hence it's  pretty rare.

Thanks Bob
I had found several other regiments listings of the Territorial force War Medals and none of them seemed to have many, one example is Royal Scots Fusiliers had 10 Medals.
One of the other criteria was they had to of served for four years in the territorials before the 30th Sept.
I couldn't find the Manchester's so thanks again.
