Thanks For Accepting Me
« on: September 22, 2021, 08:45:14 PM »
Have joined the group as I am researching the family history. My Grandfather's brother was Captain William Henry Bowsher MC of 20th Battalion, who died on 25/10/18  of injuries sustained in WW1. He was buried at Pommereuil. Any information about his service would be greatly appreciated, particularly the circumstances which led to the award of the MC. Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
His MC was a Kings Birthday award Gazetted on 04.06.1917. https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/30111/supplement/5477

There are no citations for the birthday honours, they were awarded for continuous „good work“ rather than for one specific act of bravery.

Thanks for this Mack. Charlie Bowsher was my grandfather. Ernest was his twin brother. Do you think that Ravrick would be good enough to send me pics of the medal?
This is the only photograph that I have of William.
