Thomas Stott 52055 & 90666

Hi, we have just discovered my great grandad's service numbers 52055 (Manchester Regiment, 11th battalion) and 90666 (Royal Defence Corps).

I know little about him - family never really spoke about him. We have his pension record and medal card from online, and know that he was gases in the war.

After the war he had PTSD. He spent a lot of time in the Comrades Club on Manchester Rd, Shaw. He worked in textiles: 1911 as a piecer mule, 1939 as a cotton spinner. He died in 1963.

During Covid-19 lock down I downloaded the war diaries for 11th battalion, so have pieced the battalion movements from that.

I don't think that his army records are online as nothing is coming back from searches, but could someone confirm that for me please? And if anyone has any other pointers on record that would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Pnewton,
You've covered most of the sources.  The Medal Roll shows Thomas served overseas with 11th Bttn from 1/1/1918-14/4/1918.  A good period to cover your review of the War Diary.
Welcome.
