Absent voter list 1918
« on: October 02, 2019, 04:55:57 PM »
Could you look up the name Samuel Charnley. In 1911 he was living at 79 Turner St, Waterhead. Oldham The theory behind this is if not on AVL then he is probably back in England after his bout with trench foot earlier in the year. If on list then he recovered and is still in France. That's the theory.

Thanks in advance
Doug Charnley

Turner St. and Wilkins View are not that far away from each other, 1-2 miles.

Wilkins view that's him, I used to visit my grandma there when I was 8/9 years old. So he was probably still in France. This is why there is  no pension or silver war badge despite his classification in the 1939 census of - incapacitated after being bayoneted and gassed multiple times.
