Hello, I'm new to this site so apologies if I have posted my question into the wrong section.  I'm hoping for any advice on how to find information or if anyone has any information on my great grandfather, Alfred Winterbottom who was a regimental quarter master sergeant, Manchester Regiment.  The only information I have on him is from my grandmothers birth certificate which states that she was born at The Barracks, Hartshead, Limehurst on 2nd May 1922. I have not been able to find information on the barracks either.  I didn't know my grandmother so any information that you may be able to offer would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks!

Hi
The medal's he had were:
RQMS (WOII/A/WOI) A.Winterbottom MM MSM.
2nd Battalion Manchester Regt.

Military Medal  (24th Jan 1919).
Meritorious Service Medal (11th Nov 1916).
1914 Star (15th Aug 1914) (Mons Star).
British War Medal
Victory Medal.

He was a Sgt in Aug 1914, this could put him joining the Manchester Regt around 1900-1905?

Sincere thanks for your replies so far. Have you any news on how or when he died?
