On my fathers birth certificate it states that his father in 1917 was serving in 3rd Manchester Regiment number 48466. I am unsure if this is 3rd Battalion or could it be third line TA force.
I cannot find any service records or medal card for William John Smith on Ancestry.
I would be grateful for any help.

hes in the 3rd battalion,they were at grimsby/cleethorpes,there was a pte william smith,living/billetted,at 25 harrington st,grimsby,[C1918]but he hasnt listed his army number,thats the address he was registering his vote from.
