Title: Pte 3071 Arthur Wharmby

Pte Wharmby had been a Carter prior to enlistment.  He was discharged from 12th Bttn on 20/10/1914. Arthur died in the Infirmary of Crumpsall Workhouse, from Chronic Bronchitis and VDH aggravated by Active Service on 8/10/1917, aged 38.  Prestwich Q4 1917 8d/220.
Widow Catherine lived at 2 Clifford Street, Openshaw, later 25 Barrett St, Oldham Road and received a Pension Award.
DC confirms cause of death. Need Burial.

Buried Moston (St. Joseph's) Roman Catholic Cemetery. St Patrick 613 on 15/10/1917. Credit this record to Chris Harley @ IFCP.

Salford Diocese says there may have been a headstone, but many are becoming eroded.  Needs checking.

Arthur Wharmby's inscription on the communal headstone of a public grave is legible.

Another rejection where we relied on a pension card statement that cause of death was related to service.
